My name is Micah Witri. I grew up with a deep passion for exploration and for traditional and primitive hunting tools, so knives and edge tools have always been a close companion. As a child in the suburbs outside NYC, I practiced my nature skills in the small forested plots in between houses, but a yearning for larger areas of wild land brought me north to Vermont and New Hampshire. I now make my home with my growing family in Westerly, Rhode Island.
As the son of a woodshop and blacksmith teacher and an operatically trained soprano, I have always been encouraged to express myself, and that often took the form of making and tinkering.
I was taught to make knives under the guidance of J. Neilson, of Neilson’s Mountain Hollow, a master smith in the American Bladesmith Society and cohost of the History channel’s Forged in Fire. I have been building on Neilson’s foundation and techniques since 2005.
I make all kinds of knives, including multi-use and hunting knives, but I am deeply passionate about making blades for the kitchen because they get used every day. A high-quality knife can make the preparation of that food all the more special and pleasurable—and, by making you want to cook more, lead to a healthier life.
It is my hope that my knives will help people slow down, prepare food mindfully and with joy, and nourish themselves and the ones they love.

The kitchen is the heart of a community, and the food that gets prepared there becomes a part of us.
